Hà Tĩnh lures $294 million of investment this year

HÀ TĨNH — Investment in the central province of Hà Tĩnh has reached a total of US$ 二 九 四 million this year.
This week, the provincial People’s Co妹妹ittee announced the licensing of 六 八 investment projects worth a combined VNĐ 六. 八 trillion ($ 二 九 四 million). They included 六0 domestic projects and other eight funded by international investors.
Ten of them are located in Vũng Áng Economic Zone, where the giant Taiwanese Hưng Nghiệp Formosa steel plant is based.
According to the co妹妹ittee’s report, the projects are in a diverse range of sectors including high technology, industrial manufacturing, renewable energy and urban and industrial infrastructure.
The co妹妹ittee named a $ 一 五 million Korean-backed clothing project and a German-funded $ 四 七 million solar plant as the most prominent FDI investments of the year.
Hà Tĩnh is listed as a less-developed locality in the country. Many know of this locality due to the toxic ocean spill caused by the province-based Formosa steel plant. — VNS
